10 Thoughts That Cross Your Mind While Job Hunting

As January is the month of new beginnings, it's the time when many of us embark on a job search in a bid to change something about our lives.

Unfortunately job hunt is not always easy. While there may be a few lucky people out there who receive job offers right off the bat, the rest of us need to submit countless applications before our search comes into fruition.

10 things every girl has while job hunting

As I quite enjoy making lists, today I wanted to share with you a few thoughts I had while I was job hunting. It was a very disheartening process but I made it in the end. So if your goal this year is to get a new job, I want you to know that you CAN'T GIVE UP. The right job will find you. And don't forget to check my old post here if you're unsure about what to wear to an interview.

1. Will I ever get a job?
2. Is someone actually reading my application?
3. I've seen a new advert but shall I bother again?
4. How many CVs do I need to send before someone invites me for an interview?
5. There're so many other things I'd rather do now.
6. I want to go shopping. Wait...I don't have any money left.
7. If someone asks me one more time how's my job search going, I'm going to shout.
8. Daytime TV is boring.
9. Is my degree worth anything?
10. Maybe I'm lucky that I don't have to use public transport at peak times.

What Fashion Blogger Thinks While Preparing for a Shoot

Happy Monday! I hope you had a good weekend. I was struck down with a cold for the second time this month so as much as I hated the idea of staying in bed, I knew it was a sensible thing to do. I've been juggling lots of different things at the same time so I think it was my body's way of telling me to slow down.

As I didn't get a chance to shoot any outfit photos, I thought I'd do something different today and share with you a list of thoughts that go through my head every time when I'm preparing for a blogging shoot.

20 thoughts fashion blogger has while preparing a shoot

1. Come on, weekend. Hurry up! I need to take some photos.
2. Lets check the weather forecast again. Fingers crossed it doesn't rain.
3. What should I wear?
4. Does this dress make me look fat?
5. Argh, I swear everyone is going to see that giant spot on my face!
6. I need to google some quick spot removal tips.
7. Oh well, that spot isn't that bad after all.
8. I need to pick a location.
9. I want to go to a nice place but where am I going to change to take more photos?
10. I wish I could teleport myself.
11.. Let's shoot in the back garden then.
12. I hope my readers will like my outfit.
13. How should I pose?
13. What should I do with that hand?
14. Shall I keep smiling?
15. My facial muscles ache.
16. Maybe I should play with my hair.
17. I'm so glad no one sees me now.
18. People would probably think I'm crazy.
19. I hope I look good in that photos.
20. OK, let's finish this. I need to change into my PJs.

Let me know what you think of today's post. Can you relate to any of these?

How to Wear Culottes in Winter

How to wear culottes in winter
You may recall that I was really fond of my red culottes last summer (here, here or here). I reached a point when I was literally wearing them a few times a week.

While culottes may seem like a summer attire, I'm confident to say that you don't need to retire them to the back of your wardrobe as soon as temperatures drop. Some of you may be rolling your eyes thinking that culottes are not necessary weatherproof. I hear you but culottes are extremely versatile so you can make them work during the colder months, too.

As you can see, I paired my red culottes with a roll neck jumper and new ankle boots which I showed off on my Instagram page last month. Winter is about layering so I also added a longline coat to keep me warm.

What do you think of today's look? Do you wear culottes during colder months?

My Next Wishlist

I don't know if I mentioned it before but I'm currently on a spending ban for a month. I'm pleased to report that I've been good so far and didn't buy a single item of clothing. I bought some things in December to satisfy my needs though (insert a cheeky monkey emoji here).

Technically I shouldn't be posting this wish list so I don't relapse but I browsed Next website the other day and fell in love with their latest collection. Here are some of my favourite pieces.

My Little Fresh Start Box

My Little Fresh Start Box
The month of January often marks new beginnings. Hence, I wasn't surprised to see that 'Fresh Start' is the theme of this month's My Little Box.

My Little Fresh Start Box
My Little Fresh Start Box
My Little Box had a mini makeover as all goodies arrived in a cotton bag featuring a motivational message inspiring us to be brave and seek adventure. I'll definitely use it in the future to store some bits and bobs.

My Little Fresh Start Box

Inside the bag, I found 4 beauty products which are right up my street: a sample of Garnier Ultimate Blends Honey Treasures nourishing hair mask, a tube of My Little Beauty Energising Body Cream, a tube of My Little Beauty hand cream and Merci Handy toothpaste. From what I recall, My Little Box never featured a toothpaste before so this was a nice change.

When it comes to lifestyle products, this month the team at My Little Box sent us a pretty snood that I can't wait to incorporate into my outfit posts; a set of cards with ideas to help us get inspired this year; and a 'Timeless Planner'. Not only it has a pretty cover but it also features quotes and a range of activities.

What do you think of this month's box (or a bag to be precise)? Isn't it cute?

Military Inspired Look

Military inspired look
By now you must have probably noticed how much I love sales and special offers. More than half of the content of my wardrobe has been scored on sales. What can I say? I love a good bargain. If you haven't done so already, check out my post from Monday where I'm sharing my tips on how to shop smart during the sales.

So when JustFab sent me a 'We miss you' discount code a couple of weeks ago, I knew it would be a crime not to use it. I wanted to get new boots anyway.

After a quick browse, I immediately laid my eyes on khaki over the knee boots I'm showing you today. The colour really struck me as most of the boots I've seen anywhere else were either black, brown or beige.

Despite getting the boots in November, I only took them out on their first outing the other day. As I thought it would be fun to colour co-ordinate my outfit, I teamed them with a military inspired dress. I also added a navy coat, which according to Stylist magazine is one the hottest A/W trends.

What do you think of today's look? What are your plans for the weekend? I hope it warms up a bit so I can take some outfit photos. It's so tricky to be a blogger during winter.

Look of the Day: Faux Fur Collar Jumper

Faux fur collar jumper
I have a few jumpers hanging in my wardrobe but this little number with a faux fur collar has to be my favourite! It's an oldie but goodie. I absolutely love the soft faux fur collar which has transformed the jumper into a real statement piece. It's so cosy and looks equally good when teamed with jeans on a casual day or when worn with a pencil skirt for work.

How to Shop Smart During the Sales

shop smart during the sales
January sales are in full swing. Shops keep tempting us to spend our money by slashing prices on thousands of products and bombarding our inboxes with emails containing special offers.

This time of year can really put a strain on our budget. While on one hand, we feel guilty about buying more clothes, deep down we feel that we could really do with that pretty dress that will make our eyes pop.

With this in mind, today I wanted to share with you 7 simple tips that will help you shop smart during the sales. Here we go...

How to shop smart during the sales

1. Check your wardrobe before going shopping. What do you really need?

2. Always look at the care labels. Are you committed to dry cleaning that inexpensive top?

3. Set a time frame of when you want to leave the shop. It's easy to browse the racks for hours!

4. Dress for the sales. Wear clothes that are easy to get in and out in a changing room.

5. Always try to invest in classics.

6. This is a no brainer but always wear a well fitting underwear.

7. Never buy something that DOES NOT FIT YOU  properly even if you love it.

Happy Shopping!

5 Reasons Why You Need a Vest

5 reasons why you need a vest
At the beginning of autumn I promised myself that I would invest in a vest to see me through the next few seasons. After an exhausting search, I finally found what I was looking for in the F&F sale.

5 reasons why you need a vest

I think that vests are the best layering pieces of all times. They come in all sort of styles and fabric weights not only to keep your look interesting but also to help you transition between seasons.

5 reasons why you need to invest in a vest

Have you ever thought about getting one? You definitely should! Here are 5 reasons why:

1. Vests are a closet staple. You are going to wear them season after season.
2. Vests can be a life-saviour during the transitional period when it's too hot to wear a heavy jacket and too cold to leave the house without an extra layer of protection against the chill.
3. Vests come in handy if you want to cover a particular problem area of your body. You no longer need to be conscious about rounder tummy, full bust or wide shoulders. What more can you ask for? :)
4. Vests work well with pretty much everything in your wardrobe. Wear them with dresses, basic tops or jeans.
5. Depending on a style you choose, a vest can be easily dressed down or up. It all comes down to what accessories you decide to wear with it.

Aquazzura X Farfetch Collaboration

Raise your hands if you have ever found yourself lusting over a pair of Aquazzura shoes? I have to admit that I have lost count of how many times I'd imagined having a pair of these beauties in my wardrobe [enter a sigh emoji]

If you're a fellow shoe lover, you may have already heard about Aquazzura's latest collaboration with Farfetch. This revolutionary e-commerce marketplace has enlisted four busiest and most influential women in fashion to create an exclusive Resort collection.

CEO of Browns Fashion, Hollie Rogers, Fivestory's Claire Distenfeld, Princess Deena Al-Juhani Abdulaziz, editor-in-chief of Vogue Arabia and Pascaline Smets of SMETS worked together with Aquazzura designer Edgardo Ossorio to design shoes that are representative of their style.

Aquazzura X Farfetch Collaboration
From L to R: The Very Deena // The Very Pascaline // The Very Claire // The Very Holli

Although all four pairs are beautiful, I am particularly fond of The Very Deena pumps. This amazing shoes have been carefully crafted from a kid leather, calf leather and goatskin mix. I can totally imagine wearing them to work with a simple black shift dress as they would certainly jazz up the outfit thanks to the pointed toe and striking zebra and leopard patterns.

I promise I'll be a good girl this year. Can Santa come early and bring me a pair?

Hello 2017

Hello 2017
Happy New Year! I hope you all had a wonderful start to 2017. How did you welcome the year? I'm not a party person so it was a quiet affair for me. I stayed at home with my dearest and stuffed myself with a cake :)

I feel that this time of the year is a period when we are bombarded with a lot of 'new year, new you' messages that put us under pressure to strive for perfection. Hence, we often set ourselves with unrealistic New Year's resolutions that we end up breaking 2 or 3 weeks later.

To be honest I'm not the biggest fan of typical resolutions. After all I know I'm not going to go to the gym or give up chocolate. I love chocolate so much that I can eat it for breakfast, lunch and dinner [insert cheeky emoji].

Instead of putting lofty expectations on the entire year, I've looked back at the past 12 months and mapped a list of adjustable intentions and goals. Some of them are easier to achieve than others so I'm definitely not going to beat myself up if something doesn't work out. So what do I hope to do, feel and achieve in 2017? The list starts here...

1. Be kind to myself
2. Accept every moment (everything happens for a reason after all)
3. Laugh more
4. Step out of my comfort zone (this includes attending more blogger events)
5. Follow my dreams to become a #girlboss even if they seem silly (stay tuned as I hope to announce something within the next few months)
6. Work harder on growing IZPROJECT (I started my jewellery shop 2 years ago but didn't have enough time to focus on it due to full-time job/blog and other commitments)
7. Grow my blog (I still can't believe how far I've gone)
8. Meet new people (this is a real challenge as I feel that when you are an adult, it is more tricky to meet new people you can socialise with)
9. Try and get my sleeping pattern back to what it was
10. Learn how to code (I'm so excited to start my coding class next week. It will hopefully help me achieve goal #5)
