Simple Tips to Combat Dry Skin This Winter

Last week I told you how much I don't like winter and shared with you the top buys to beat the chill.  Today I wanted to continue with the winter theme as I was approached by Freya Lowe, a Blogger and Adventure Seeker, who offered to give us some tips on how to combat dryness and achieve flawless skin during the colder months. Yes, it’s winter time now. It is true that this is the time of the year when you get the chance to flaunt your new jackets and coats, sip up hot chocolate and spend a little more time under those warm blankets. But again, it is the time for chapped lips, dry and itchy skin, red patches and cold and numb fingers. This means that it is time to change your skincare regime and use products that will help to keep your skin moisturised and supple.

So let’s see some products that you need to use and skincare tips that you need to follow. 

Moisturise
There are no words to explain how important it is to moisturise your skin during the winter when the temperature drops down rapidly to extremely low. When it comes to your face, you must leave behind the light moisturising creams and go for the ones that you felt greasy during the summers. These heavy moisturisers, when applied in the morning, will help to keep your skin moisturised for the rest of the day. When it comes to your body, you can use body oils and body butters as they can prove to be good.

Exfoliate
When the winter sets in, your skin becomes dry. Sometimes it gets scaly too. As it is not advised to peel it off, you should use some mild scrub on your skin to remove the dry skin. The scrub can be used daily or weekly depending on the dryness of the skin.

Lip balms
The moment winter shows its first light, your lips start to get dry. Applying lip balm once in a day is never enough and you will see your lips wanting for more. So better keep a lip balm handy so that you can apply it whenever your lips become dry. This is something that you need to follow seriously as chapped lips are no good.

Hands and feet
When it comes to winter, people end up with dry & wrinkled hands and chapped feet. Now this is something that no one likes. So you need to take extra care of your hands and feet and pamper them. Make it a habit of soaking them in warm water. You should also visit salons regularly and enjoy manicures and pedicures. You must also make a habit to keep creams handy so that you can apply them whenever you want.

Sunscreen
Many people believe that sunscreens are to be used during the summer but it is also true that you cannot neglect them during the winter, too. The reason is very simple; the sun is still there out in the sky during the winter. So you need to protect yourself from the harmful UV rays. So make it a habit of applying sunscreen lotion with good SPF to protect your skin.

Water
Water is an important element that helps to keep your skin hydrated. So just like in the summer make it a habit of drinking enough water during the winter too. Drinking enough water means your skin will remain supple and moisturised from inside.
