2016 Outfits

Happy Friday! I hope you had a lovely festive season. I took a short break from blogging over the past week to recharge my batteries and spend some quality time with my family.

As this is my last post of the year, I wanted to do a short recap and show you outfits that appeared on the blog over the past 12 months. I had so much fun putting the looks together and hope you like some of them :)

Christmas Inspired Look

Christmas Inspired Look
Happy Wednesday! Can you believe that Christmas Day is only 4 days away?  Although I'm yet to enjoy my well-deserved break, I decided to get into a festive mood and put together a Christmas inspired outfit that is office appropriate.

Sadly, you can't see the metallic finish of my new ribbed tube skirt as the photos don't do it much justice :( To keep my outfit suitable for daytime wear, I paired the skirt with a basic long sleeved tee, black heels and opaque tights.

Find Your Perfect Holiday Bra

Find your perfect holiday bra
With Christmas only a few days away, I'm sure most of you have already picked your perfect holiday outfit. But did you think about your bra?

After talking to some of my friends and fellow bloggers, I've noticed that we often don't pay much attention to underwear. We think that because it's out of sight, we don't need to think about what we wear under our clothes. That's so wrong!

Ill fitting underwear will create lumps and bumps. Wrong bra will cut you in or make your boobs look saggy. Sometimes you may even experience back pain!

Our boobs can change their size many times throughout our lives, so it's important to get professionally measured and replace our old bras on a regular basis.

As you can't slip a beautiful dress on over a tatty bra, today I wanted to share with you a fun quiz created by ThirdLove, a fashion tech company designing bras with you in mind, to help you find a bra that fits your holiday personality.

Quiz to Find your perfect holiday bra

Apparently, it turns out that I'm the 'Lace Balconette Bra' who is seduced by all the holidays have to offer. What's your bra personality?

P.S.Third Love has prepared an exclusive promo code TL15BRABLEMSDEC which you can use to get 15% off on your next bra. Although, the company is based in the USA, the code is valid on international orders, too :)

My Little Christmas Box

My Little Christmas Box
December is the month of festivities so I wasn't surprised to see that Christmas is the theme of this month's My Little Box. As much as I love this subscription service in general, I think that My Little Christmas Box is 100% better than My Little Magic Box I received this time last year.

My Little Christmas Box

My Little Christmas Box
While I was opening the box, I felt like a kid on a Christmas Day. Inside a beautifully designed package, I found a wide array of goodies that instantly put me in a festive mood.

Among them was a gingerbread scented candle that smells deliciously. There was also a little pot of Tiptree Salted Caramel Spread which I ate in one go with a spoon (oops), a tin of Kusmi Tea featuring a limited-edition black tea blend dressed up with zesty orange peel, liquorice and a dash of vanilla, and a candy cane. Oh, I almost forgot to mention a cute gold plated cuff bracelet that makes a great addition to my jewellery collection.

When it comes to beauty products, this month's box featured a sample of Hyperbole by Courreges perfume that has a lovely spicy scent, a Smoky Eye Duo from My Little Box and Palmer's Cocoa Butter Formula Flip Balm. The balm is a real saviour for me as my lips get very dry during the colder months. It smells deliciously of coconut and makes my lips more kissable. If only there was this one special person I could kiss under a mistletoe (enter a sigh emoji).

How to Buy a Winter Coat

How to buy a winter coat
I know I don't have to tell you that a winter coat can be a real investment. It's one garment that we often don't hesitate to splurge on as it keeps us warm and cosy on dull and cold days. Most of the coats I wear now have been in my wardrobe for years so I definitely spent my money well.

With this in mind, today I wanted to share with you a few things you should take into consideration when buying your next winter coat.

How to buy a winter coat

Choose a neutral colour

If you want to invest in only one coat this season, pick something in a neutral colour. It will be versatile and will go well with everything else you have in your wardrobe.

Pick a classic fabric

I often look for coats that are a blend of wool and cashmere. They are a bit pricier than most coats available in shops but they are super warm and will never go out of style.

How to pick a winter coat

Make sure there is enough room to wear layers underneath

I think it's self-explanatory. I've seen so many great coats on High Street but they didn't have enough room around the arms. How are you supposed to wear thick jumpers underneath?

Look at lengths

When buying a coat, choose the right length for your wardrobe. If you wear a lot of dresses and skirts, coats that sit on your knee will look the best.  If you're petite, don't buy a calf-length coat. It will swamp your smaller frame.

How to pick a winter coat

Pick a classic style

If you want your coat to see you through seasons, pick a style that will transcend all trends.

Greens with Benefits: Everyday Energy by Forza

Greens with Benefits: Everyday Energy Review
Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend. Today's post will be a bit different as I was recently approached by Forza who asked if I wanted to review their diet supplements. For those of you who are not familiar with Forza, they are one of the fastest growing brands in the food supplement industry.

Forza sells a wide range of products but I was particularly drawn to their Green with Benefits range of super greens with minerals, vitamins and nutrients specialised to meet your individual needs.

Among the products from this range, I found Everyday Energy which instantly appealed to me as after being extremely busy over the past 2 months, I felt that I needed an extra energy boost to help me get up early in the morning.

Forza Greens with Benefits: Everyday Energy Review

Everyday Energy is a lemon and mint flavoured fruit powder combining strawberry, blueberry, goji berry, cherry and pomegranate into one formula. It promises to boost energy levels and reduce tiredness and fatigue.

I've only been testing Everyday Energy for the past 2 weeks so I can't tell with 100% certainty whether it actually increases your energy. My sleeping pattern is all over the place so it probably doesn't help. However, as each serving (2 teaspoons) is packed with vitamins B1, B2, B5 and B12, I feel that it gives my body the nutrients it needs.

As the supplement comes in a powder form, you need to mix it with 200-250 ml of water, juice or fruit smoothies. Alternatively you can add the powder to your yoghurt or cereals. I personally prefer to have it with water. It needs a good stir though to fully dissolve.

My Little Goodnight Box

My Little Goodnight Box
Today I'm back with a new post featuring My Little Goodnight Box.

My Little Box is a cute box full of goodies that includes beauty products, lifestyle and fashion accessories, an illustrated postcard and a magazine. I used to subscribe to the box in the past (you can find  some of my old reviews here or here) but last December I cancelled my subscription in a bid to save some money.

Luckily I have a new job now so I decided to get My Little Box again as a little treat to myself. I have to say that the moment I opened the package, I had no regrets as My Little Box didn't disappoint.

November's box had a Goodnight theme and included a lovely sleeping mask with the caption 'To the Moon and Back' on the reverse and with stars and moon printed on the front. I have to admit that I never used a sleeping mask before but I may convert as this one is super soft. There was also a moon shaped jewellery dish which I absolutely adore. It makes a perfect addition to my bedside table.

My Little Box

When it comes to beauty products, inside my box I found a sample of Yves Rocher Secrets D'essences Accord perfume and a Garnier Skin Active Pure Active 3 in 1 Wash, Scrub and Mask which is perfect for anyone who suffers from oily/acne prone skin. There was also a full size tube of My Little Box Moonrise Makeup Remover Jelly. I haven't tried it yet but apparently it is 99.5% vegan. It contains Camelia Oil, Grapeseed and Sunflower extracts and is suitable for all skin types.

What do you think of My Little Goodnight Box? Isn't it cute?

Supermodel Inspired Holiday Look - Guest Post

Holiday season is almost here. It's the time of the year when we all want to look perfect and shine like a star regardless of whether we are attending a huge bash or a small gathering with our dearest.

That's why today I wanted to share with you a guest post written by Claire Hastings who tells us how we can create a supermodel holiday inspired look. Over to Claire...

Supermodel Inspired Holiday Look

Celebrity style always enthuse us with its variety, edge and ability to go outside the lines. Whatever they wear, it always seems appropriate. From casual walks all the way to the most extravagant parties-they never fail to surprise us. There's no need to mention that holidays, which are now closer than you think, give us best chances to experiment with our clothes, hair and makeup. In other words, nobody can tell us not to dress like we're going on some red carpet event, when it's just a casual party. Here are some hacks on how to look like a true celebrity.

Dresses

Dresses are signature holiday garments. They give us class and make us feel like royalty. Here are some dresses you need to try out:

Deep cleavage

"Oh my Good, is that Jennifer Lopez? Oh, no it's you but wow that is a fabulous dress you have there." This is the type of compliment you will be getting when you take this bad girl out. Of course, for some it can seem like "too much skin" but come on, aren't you tired of always wearing same type of dresses? Besides, there is nothing wrong in being sexy sometimes, right? (wink)

Lace

Lace has been here for like, forever. The lace itself is first seen at the end of 15th century on pictures of Milanese Sforza family. Later, it developed through the 16th century, and it keeps enchanting us. Just remember the iconic Madonna's lace shirt she wore for Vogue photoshoot or Princess Diana's wedding dress she wore in 1985. When wearing lace, the most important rule is that less is always better. And, since it is not 15th century anymore, you don't even need a personal tailor, you can find perfect dresses online. Something as classy as lace dresses is meant to stay fashionable forever. Since it already draws attention to itself, there's no need to wear any other lace piece except your lace dress. Also, make sure you are always covered up. Just like it can look incredibly classy, it can also look very cheap and provocative if you are not covered up.

Hello sequins

These are my personal favourites, as a true sequin fan as I am. There are many variations but the most glamorous are definitely gold or silver sequin dresses (it depends which "colour" you like best). Combine your short sleeved or long sleeved sequin dress with single strap black heel sandals and a simple clutch that matches them. Also, since sequins, just like lace, draw all the attention to themselves, the key is to keep your hair and makeup as simple as possible.

Go edgy

Edge refers to many different styles. It basically means to wear something you usually wouldn't because you know, why not? Feel free to embrace leather by wearing  a leather jacket over your all-white combo (white cigarette trousers and a white shirt with a neat bun) or go full leather and put on a leather skirt with leather top, or simply put on a leather dress. Let's be clear now, don't wear those stripper-like dresses in which everyone can see your bottom, no. There are many classy designs right now because leather has really made a comeback this season.

Also you can opt for some formal playsuits (short or long, whatever you like) and wear them with some cool heels and blazer. Elegant plus simple equals fabulous.

Explore your artistic side with various makeup techniques

It is time to say goodbye to heavy makeup and dark colours because new makeup trends are finally here and they are fabulous.

Strobing

Don't worry. It's not some wild, new and hard technique. Strobing is just a fun new term for highlighting. It's time to say goodbye to the art called contouring and start embracing our "natural" glow with slightly more highlighter and almost no bronzer at all. Use highlighter ONLY on spots of your face that catch light because otherwise you can get that "sweaty" effect, and we don't want that. After powdering, put few layers of highlighter on your brow bone, the bridge of your nose, the highest part of your cheekbones and over the Cupid's bow and you are done. Ohm and don't forget to blush it as well.

Love your brows

Since "eyebrows on fleek" trend is over (thank God), now the celebrities are encouraging us to embrace our natural brows (just look at Cara Delvinge, Gigi Hadid or Kylie Jenner). If they have some "holes" in them, just fill them up with eyebrow pencil and that's it. Spice up your look with a light smoky eye technique and you are ready to own the party.

Don't forget your hair and skin care

You already know that, when the weather is cold, our skin and hair can suffer if we don't treat them properly. That is why it is important to always moisturise and tone your skin, avoid hot showers because that hot water can make your skin dryer than it already is (since it strips the natural elements from it). Oh, and I almost forgot about the SPF creams, always use sunscreen with at least SPF 30 when you are going outside. UV radiation is almost equal as one during summer months.

When it comes to hair, just avoid ponytails, always moisturise it with moisturising oils and be very careful with styling tools. Besides, it is now trendy to have that "bed hairstyle" anyways.

Holidays are times when we are allowed to go a little bit crazy and wear something we usually wouldn't, but also to combine that with comfort and style.
