Last Year

Happy Wednesday! I hope you had a great Christmas break. Can you believe that 2015 is nearly over?

Although this was an eventful year for me, I'm hoping that 2016 will be even better. As I want to make it a year of new beginnings, I've spent the last few days dealing with some unfinished matters. That way I'm ready to focus on what is important and can start the year off on the right foot.

I've also looked back at my old posts as I wanted to see how my style evolved over the past 12 months. I had so much fun putting together all the outfits and hope you like some of them :)

Shop the Sales Like a Pro

shop the sales

"Women usually love what they buy, yet hate two-thirds of what is in their closets"
Mignon McLaughlin

Although January hasn't started yet, some shops have already started tempting us to spend more money. Don't they know we have just spent a fortune on gifts for our family and friends?

Christmas and January sales can really put a strain on your budget. On one hand, you feel guilty about spending money on yourself. On the other hand, you could really do with another dress or pair of shoes. After all, it's an investment as you will be wearing them throughout the year.

We can't deny that January sales are the best time to inject something new to our wardrobe. However, before we embark on a shopping trip, we should think carefully about what we want to achieve.

With this in mind, today I wanted to share with you 7 top tips to help you shop the sales like a pro.

1. Scout out what you want before the sales hit the shops. Try something on and assess which size you need. That will save you some time as you won't need to queue for the changing room next time you go shopping.

2. If you're planning to do your shopping online, check the retailer's terms and conditions to see if they have restrictions in place on returning sale items.

3. Check out the loyalty schemes at your favourite shops. Sometimes they entitle you to shop the sales before they're open to the general public.

4. Join the mailing lists of your favourite retailers. You will be the first one to know about the upcoming sale.

5. Dress for the sales. Wear slip-on shoes and minimal layers so it's easy to get in and out of clothes in a changing room.

6. Invest in the classics. Add one of the timeless items to your wardrobe as they will never go out of style.

7. Shop with the clear idea of what you need. Just because something is a bargain, it doesn't mean you should buy it.

Do you have any tips on how to shop the sales? I'd love to hear from you.

Teal and White

Hello everyone! I hope you had a great weekend.

Can you believe that Christmas is only 4 days away? It's a bit scary to see how quickly the time has flown this year. It seems that 1st January was only yesterday.

As I'm already in the festive mood, today I thought I'd wear some Christmas colours. With this in mind, I opted for my new teal dress and fluffy cardigan which I got on pre-Christmas sale the other day.

The whole outfit is really cosy so I may wear it again when I sit down to have dinner with my family on Christmas Eve. I will of course have to replace the boots with some sensible shoes but overall I really like the teal and white combo and think it's perfect for the festive season.

What do you think? Have you planned your Christmas holiday outfit yet?

My Little Magic Box

I can't believe that 12 months has already passed since I subscribed to My Little Box, a beautifully designed box containing beauty treats, accessories and a little magazine. Back then I was new to subscription boxes so I had no idea what to expect. However, as soon as my first My Little Box came through my front door, I was sold on the concept.

December's box has a magic theme just in time for the festive season. Like all previous boxes, it didn't disappoint and contained an array of beauty goodies that were placed inside a cute make up bag that I'm certainly going to use in the future. Among them I found Rituals Honey Touch Body Cream, a sample of Orgasm Blush from NARS and My Little Beauty Nail Varnish Duo. The nail varnish is quite bold but I think I'm going to use it on New Year's Eve. (I will be spending the last night of the year on the sofa but that doesn't stop me from celebrating in style. I'm sure you would agree with me.)

When it comes to lifestyle products, this month the team at My Little Box sent me some heat-retaining mittens and a small tin of Anastasia black tea blend from Kusmi Tea. I'm not a huge tea drinker but this one tastes really nice as it's delicately tinged with bergamot, lemon and orange blossom.

Overall I'm really pleased with this month's box and all the products I received. What do you think? Are there any subscription boxes that you want to try next year?

I'm a Style Adviser for StylishCircle

"Fashions fades, style is eternal."

Yves Saint Laurent

I'm super excited to announce that I have become one of the Style Advisers for StylishCircle. (You may have seen a new badge that appeared on the blog earlier this week :))

StylishCircle is a new platform that helps users discover great fashion products and brands, create collages, and buy designer clothes on sale. It is also a great community where you can make new friends and promote yourself and your blog.

As someone who shops on a budget and started blogging only 15 months ago, I'm honoured to have been recognised by the lovely team at StylishCircle. I know I'm not a fashion guru but I really look forward to interacting with StylishCircle members and answering their fashion-related questions.

Have you heard about StylishCircle before? If you haven't, I strongly recommend you check their website out as soon as possible. It's so much fun! :)

Look of the Day: Casual Dress

Happy Monday! I hope you had a great weekend.

Today I wanted to show you my casual look from Saturday. The weather was quite dreadful here in London (as you can probably judge by the photos) but that didn't stop me from going for a long walk.

As I had a pretty tough week and needed to get some fresh air to clear my head, I didn't feel like making a huge effort when dressing up. Hence, I opted for a causal leopard print dress which I paired with my black knee-lenght boots and grey coat.

Not bad, huh?
